Softest brown leather passport bag with zip front pocket, a full length open back pocket and main compartment with press stud closure.

Inside, the bag is fully lined in brown cotton. 

Made from hand selected soft sheep leather from Chennai in India, the leather is hand cut and individually sewn which together with the natural variations in the leather grain and colouration make each bag unique.

Dimensions - width 14 cm  x  height 21 cm approx.    The leather cross-the-body strap is non-adjustable, but has a long drop of 60 cm, allowing you  to wear the bag across the body, giving you a little extra security.

Produced by Hatti Production PTV Ltd, which is an independent, private, but not for profit company in Nepal. It provides training and jobs for young women disadvantaged and stigmatised, often rescued from human trafficking by the Esther Benjamins Trust. It has a handbag production centre under Fair Trade conditions to provide a realistic economic alternative to being re-trafficked.

Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world, where 85% of the people live in the rural countryside, The extreme poverty and lack of opportunities makes the people easy prey for unscrupulous traffickers and many young girls are unwittingly sold into prostitution or bonded labour where they are exploited, beaten and abused both mentally and physically. 

Girls who survive these experiences are then stigmatised by society and are unable to return to a normal life of marriage and family. Women are still considered second-class citizens in Nepal, with few rights. By providing the UK market with handicrafts, these women earn a fair price for their skillful work.
